Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I was born in Philadelphia and raised in the suburbs. Growing up, I was always a girly girl – I loved getting my nails done and wearing as much makeup as my mom would allow. (For years, I was limited to my watermelon Lip Smackers lip gloss, but I rocked it just the same!) I hold a B.S. in Marketing from Penn State, and I currently work in digital media while pursuing my professional makeup business on the side. I also have a beauty YouTube channel called Gregorio Girls Makeup with my younger sister, Seanna. We have lots of fun reviewing new makeup products and interacting with our subscribers!
Why did you decide to become a makeup artist?
I believe that one of the most important traits a woman can have is self-confidence. When we believe in ourselves, we can make amazing things happen. Nothing is more rewarding for me than sitting down with a client (or friends and family, for that matter) and watching them light up when they see how beautiful they truly are. To me, makeup is not about covering up, it’s about bringing out who you are on the inside so that your light can shine.
What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before starting your professional makeup training?
I wish someone had told me not to get discouraged. Pursuing a dream career can be hard because when you want something badly, the thought of failure can be paralyzing. No matter how big or small your dream may seem, ALWAYS go for it!
Who is your biggest inspiration as a professional makeup artist?
I absolutely LOVE Bobbi Brown. She’s the ultimate OG, in my opinion. I started reading her makeup books when I was 12 years old, and I still read them to this day. I really admire her bronzed, healthy, classic makeup style.
What’s your favorite part of the makeup application process?
Skin, for sure. I believe that a healthy, glowing canvas sets the stage for the rest of the look. I love that moment when a little bit of bronzer and blush bring life back to the face.
What made you choose QC over all the other makeup schools out there?
After shopping around a few different schools, I loved that QC had the Master Makeup Artistry program. I could cover all my bases with one course. I also loved that I could do it on my own time, while still continuing to work my job. It’s hard to stop your entire life to go back to school for something, so I loved the flexibility of the program. And Nathan is a brilliant makeup artist who genuinely cares about his students. He’s seen the industry inside and out and I’ve learned so many tips and tricks from him by taking this course and tuning into his webinars.
What’s in store for you in 2019?
2019 is going to be a big year of growth for me. I started my LLC, Gregorio Artistry, at the end of 2018, so this will be my first full year as a freelance makeup artist. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming wedding and prom seasons!
Finally, what’s the one makeup product you can’t live without?
WOW this is a hard one (I know, everyone probably says that). For me I think it would be foundation. I have a lot of redness in my skin and, as I mentioned above, I love a fresh canvas. Right now my favorite foundation is the Too Faced Peach Perfect. I use it on myself and my clients!
