Getting all your makeup techniques right can be tricky, especially when applying them to your clients, friends or family. The great thing is, makeup artists always have a few tips and tricks up their sleeves to make things easier and
save time on the job. Below are some hacks used by makeup artists in the industry to get the desired looks for their client’s every time!
Find a spoon!
A spoon can be used in more ways than one to help you with your makeup application. For starters, you can use the edge of the spoon (placed against your face and point upwards), to create the perfect winged liner.
With that same spoon, (covering your eyebrow or below the eye) you can avoid any mascara marks on your upper or lower eye lid when applying your mascara!
Cosmopolitan.com has step-by-step instructions to give you a better idea of how to properly use this hack as well as other hacks you may find interesting!
The wonders of powder
After applying your first layer of mascara, you can use a pressed powder to lightly cover the lashes. Then apply a second layer of mascara. This will ultimately give you a much fuller look and you can use much less mascara in the process!
Translucent powder can also be used to
blot your lips after applying a fresh coat of lipstick. This will make the lipstick color last longer and give you many hours of wear. You’ll also be able to stretch your favorite lipstick for longer because you won’t constantly be reapplying it throughout the day.
Easy eyelash glue application
Having trouble getting the glue on your falsies just right? Use a clean bobby pin to apply a thin layer of glue to the eyelashes before applying them to your eye lids. Press them against your eye and hold them until they are securely attached! The bobby pin will shorten the time spent trying to deal with the tricky glue situation!
Turn your eyeshadow into lip gloss!
To get an interesting color of gloss and to avoid having to run out to buy a new lipstick every time, you can use eyeshadows to create an amazingly colorful lip gloss. Blend the shadow with a clear lip gloss or petroleum jelly and apply it to your lips. You’ll be thrilled at the colors you can create!
Made a mistake? That’s okay!
If you make a mistake while applying liner or mascara, don’t worry! Instead of using water or runny makeup removers, a small amount of hand/body cream on a tissue will remove the makeup easily and quickly without any additional mess.
Can’t find your brow pencil or brow powder? No problem!
Depending on the colors of your natural brow, you can actually use cocoa powder to fill in your brows (
or tint them!). Take a stiff angled brush, and have at it! Those with dark hair can also use cocoa powder to sub in for dry shampoo when in a pinch.
These are just a few tips and tricks used by makeup artists to help them save time and money for themselves and their clients. There are many more tips and tricks out there for you to discover!
