My Online Makeup Course: Getting Feedback from my Tutor Skip to main content

Hey everyone!

I hope you’re having a great week! I’m SO happy since I finished my final exams yesterday. Yay! Now I have some time to write to you lovely people and to (hopefully) send in Unit E and F before starting summer classes.

Last time I walked you through the process of completing an assignment and sending it in to be graded. Today I’ll be talking to you about what happens afterwards. My tutor is Nathan Johnson and he is The Flash when it comes to grading. I usually send in a Unit and receive my grade in less than 5 days, even though it says your tutor can take from 5-10 days to grade. I guess it depends on the tutor.

Nathan’s feedback is really helpful and in-depth. I like the fact that the feedback is in .mp3 form, since sometimes you can misinterpret things when they are written. Nathan has an eagle eye and is a perfectionist, which is awesome because he pushes you to be a perfectionist too and to notice small details you could have missed when sending in your assignment. He is emphatic when you’ve done a good job and he isn’t afraid to tell you how well you did. The same thing goes for when you haven’t done such a great job. Be ready to get critiqued! It’s all constructive criticism and it’s completely necessary for you to grow as a student and as a future makeup artist.

Honestly, Nathan is everything I ever expected a tutor on an online makeup academy to be. I’m proud to say he’s my tutor anywhere I go. Obviously, he can’t come over and help me perfect my technique (I have to review the course videos) but he’s as helpful as he can be through a voice recording. If I have any questions I can write them at the bottom of any of the Unit assignments and he responds to them when he grades that Unit. He responds to each question thoughtfully and thoroughly.

Listen to Nathan’s feedback from Nichole’s Unit C of the Master Makeup Artistry course!

If there were anything I could change about the system it would be having a more direct form of communication with my tutor. Sometimes it’s a bit frustrating because I’ve had questions in between assignments and I can’t ask them until I’m going to send in the completed unit. If we had a direct e-mail to send questions to our tutors, it would be wonderful and it would certainly add to the learning experience.

All in all I’m very happy with what I’ve learned at QC Makeup Academy. Enrolling here was a first step to pursuing my passion and I won’t stop. I’ve taken three makeup seminars here in Puerto Rico already and the teachers have been impressed with all the knowledge I’ve acquired from attending QC. The teachers and other students are in shock at the fact that I was able to learn all these things from an online makeup course.

So don’t give up on your dreams! If this is what you truly desire, work for it! We’re rooting for you!

Big hugs,

Nichole
