How to Make Your Eyebrows Smile

Hey Guys!

Today we are going to talk a bit about brows and how I personally like to fill them in. There are SO many products, techniques and tools to use when it comes to brows, so I’m just going to talk about what I find works best for me in making my eyebrows smile. Let’s get started…

Here are the products I like to use:

Brushes (top to bottom):

A flat large shadow brush: This sets the concealer around my brows after filling them in.

A flat synthetic concealer brush: I use this to precisely outline my brows with concealer cleaning up the edges and really creating that clean crisp look.

A spoolie: These are a dime a dozen. We’ve all got one! I use this to brush through my brow before and after applying brow product. It helps smooth everything out and blend everything together.

A brow brush: Pick something with some density and coarseness to it. Many people mix up the angled liner brush for an angled brow brush. An angled liner brush will be too thin and malleable to brush product through brow hair. Usually, brow brushes are made of natural hair and are course with little flexibility.

Products

When it comes to products, feel free to use what you’re most comfortable with! Here are the products I use:

Dip Brow by Anastasia Beverly Hills: I use this product in Chocolate. I usually mix this with a lighter colour as Chocolate is just a wee bit dark for me.

Elf Eye Brow Kit: This product comes with a tinted brow cream and a powder, I mix the brow cream with my Dip Brow to achieve my desired results. Don’t be afraid to mix your products! I mix pretty much every step of my makeup to really customize the look!

A Concealer: Whatever you favourite concealer is, use it here. I tend to grab a brightening concealer that will highlight the brow nicely.

A Setting Powder: I use MAC Mineralize Skin Finish, but feel free to use whatever powder you have handy. Use something a bit lighter than your skin or something translucent.

Application

  1. Start with a clean brow. Tweeze and trim the brow and make sure there are no stray hairs. Brush the brow out with your spoolie to smooth down the hairs and help them run in the same direction.
  2. Pick up your brow product with your brow brush (remember: less is more) and create the lower angle of the front part of your brow. Draw a line up along the last line of hair which will serve as a guideline.
  3. Create the same sort of guideline on the back portion of the brow where your arch is. I find that that’s where I need to apply a bit more product as I have less hair on the tail of my brow.
  4. From both of the angles you’ve drawn, take your brush and blend them up and down, softening the line into the body of the brow.
  5. Take your spoolie again and brush gently brush through the brow, softening any areas with excess product. *Don’t press hard, lightly touch the spoolie to the brow!*
  6. Take your concealer brush and line the brows (top and bottom) cleaning up any smudges and highlighting the nice brow you just created. Then take your powder and set your concealing work.
Hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial! One last tip… Brows can be a statement or an accent, have fun with it and try different things until you create your perfect brow 😉
